Jessica D. Bright, MSHI
Executive Director
Jessica Bright took on the role of Executive Director in September 2021. Since taking on the position she has been working toward revamping the program within the post covid era. She comes entered into politics after of career within the health care community. She believes both are critical in order to have sustainable communities.
Jessica is a South Carolina native, born in Columbia and raised in Walterboro. Where she graduated from the public schools of ColletonCounty. Growing the rural Lowcountry she witnessed the struggles of a broken economic system, low-wage jobs, a strained educational system, and a broken health system. She furthered her education at Clemson University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Health Science. She later continued her education at the Medical University of South Carolina where she received her Masters in Health Informatics.
Prior to Emerge, she worked in various sectors of politics which range from electoral, advocacy, political action committees, and political non-profit organizations. Jessica served as the State Director for Bernie Sanders and the Political Director for Joe Cunningham’s historical race for South Carolina Congressional District 01.
Jessica resides in Charleston with her son and dog.
