Heather Bauer, Candidate for SC House District 75
Why did you choose Emerge?
Women are under-represented in the State House, and I wanted to participate in a training surrounded by people who believe in and support women candidates.
What office are you running for and why?
I am running for SC House District 75 because I know that we deserve better representation. This seat can be flipped, but only if we are willing to try something different than we have done the past few cycles.
What is your vision for your community?
All ships rise with the tide, and we need someone in office who believes that we are all in this together. I want to see all elected officials in Richland County and the City of Columbia work cooperatively to improve our education, environment, infrastructure, and business opportunities. We are powerful and can make real change when we come together.
What/Who inspires you to run for office?
I am inspired to be one percent better every day and I will use that work ethic for the people of South Carolina at the State House.
Which Democratic woman inspires you and why?
The women who have paved the way for me are my inspiration. The ones who protest and march. The mentors. The ones who went first. These women inspire me to run.
What’s the one thing you gained from Emerge and would like to share with others?
The relationships I have developed with my Emerge sisters are unwavering. It is a relief and so empowering to have these amazing women in my corner.
